MY ORAL PRESENTATION

MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Hi! I’m Ariadna, and I’m 16 years old.
Today, I’m going to talk about my summer holidays with my best friend.
Have you ever been in London? Do you like to see different places?
Well, I want you to talk about everything of my two weeks in London, especially about my college and the places that I visited. I did a PowerPoint to show you some photos that I took.
My travel was since 1st of July to 15th of July. We went to Egham, a big town situated on the south of England. We stayed on a college called Royal Holloway.
I begin talking about my plane travel: we had to be at the airport at lunch time and met our group. We travelled to Egham with British Airways. We arrived to Egham at evening. We visited all together our college. It was amazing, the biggest college I’ve ever seen.
Rooms were separated by letters, so imagine there were so many flats with a letter. We had the letter K, the oldest rooms, but they also were good. We had to live there with Italian, Serbian, French and more nationality people. It was wonderful, because we would make a lot of friends.
There was a really big castle, which seemed to be the caste of Howards.
That was our school, our classes were there. But we could lose ourselves inside the castle. We had class at morning, 3 hours and we have two different teachers. I liked a lot my teachers, Ian was like Coldplay’s singer, and Harry was the typical English man. They were really nice. Finally, we visited our dinning room because it was dinner time: there were a buffet and lot of places to sit. On the first day we were all in time to have breakfast, but then, we were always the last. At nights, we were really hungry because in England people have dinner very early, so we went everyday to the supermarket to buy pizzas, and we ate them late.
Anyway, I want to talk about the wonderful places that I visited.
The place that I loved the most was Brighton: we spent the whole day there.
It’s so beautiful!! We went to the Aquarium at morning, and we saw plenty of strange fishes. After this, we have dinner and we spent some time on the beach. Brighton’s beach is amazing. It has no sand, everything was big stones. Then, we walked through the city streets. Brighton is full of people all day. We loved to look at them, and see how they were dressed. We also visited the shopping centre, which was enormous. And before we went to the bus, we saw some boys playing music on the street.

Another day, we visited Oxford. There is the castle which is filmed the dinning room of Harry Potter’s movie. We were all really surprised because it was a little room, and on the film it seems to have no ending with the special effects.
After the visited, we went to Oxford University.
On the second week we went to Windsor, where’s one of the official residences of the Royal British family. We had to bring with us talking phones for tourists to know the history of the castle. The queen had on the castle the biggest house of dolls, it has all that you can imagine and the things are made in real size.
Also, we met there some friends of here, it was really fun. While we were talking there was an amazing Orquestra playing in front of us. They were stuff of the castle and they wore the typical dresses of British guards.
The place most visited for us was London. I don’t have words to say how much I love this city. The first day we went there to visit the typical places like: London Eye, Tower Bridge or Big Ben. All were amazing!! And we also walk through the streets. That night we were all on a boat: our teachers made a disco there, and we could see how beautiful London is at night. Everything was light, and the disco was really fun.
The next day, we visited Buckingham Palace, the Royal Residence. It’s a wonderful place, and we enjoyed very much see how serious were the guards there. Later, we walked to Piccadilly Circus! One of my favourites places to go in London city! There was Oxford Street, the most important shopping street in London, and there was too a big screens with publicity. We spent a lot of time there, going to Starbucks because we like her cappuccinos very very much!!
And then, we found “Abercrombie & Fitch” shop. It’s the most famous shop in the world: her stuff are all handsome models, and everything inside it is perfect!!! We spent a lot of time too inside this shop! Enjoying a lot with the stuff, and finally we get a photo with the model that was standing on the door. When I say that it was amazing it’s true. You can’t believe how much we had to wait to could enter; it was like a 5 meters cue. But the wait was finally good.
The third day we had free time, so we decided to go shopping. We went to typical English shops like: Topshop, River Island, Gap…And when we had a little more time, we went again to Starbucks and we had a cappuccino and a big cookie. We talked a lot there about our fantastic days in Egham.
The fourth day we visited a museum: Tate museum. It was a museum of art really interesting, with six floors. We spent all morning there, taking photos and watching all, and at the afternoon it was raining a lot so, we decided to visit Harrods’s. Harrods’s are like a dream. We couldn’t get into because we were students, but finally we enter with Italian boys, like they were our boyfriends and guards let us pass. Everything is so expensive there, and there are guards in every step. But I have to say that it’s the most fabulous shopping centre that I’ve ever seen. Even the toilets were like the paradise, with Chanel perfume.
Those were our days in London.
The last day, we went to park of attractions, two hours far from our college. We spent all day there, and we enjoyed a lot. It was raining the whole day, but anyway we had fun with our friends.
That was the best experience of my life. I made a lot of good friends, I learnt a lot with them, I had fun, and I even fell in love.

REFLECTION:

In my opinion I think that my presentation was right. I was very nervous because I’m very shy and it’s very difficult for me talk in front of so many people. So, this time, I decided to study hard my presentation to know well everything that I was going to say. Also, it was an interesting project to me because I talked about my summer holidays and my friends, so I tried to do my best.

I decided to make a PowerPoint to can show to everyone pictures of the beautiful places that I visited and to let they know what I was talking about. On my PowerPoint there were too much sentences and it was bad for the presentation. I thought that I could forget something and it could be terrible, so I decided to write that to be able to remember everything. In fact, I had everything on my mind. I still remember what I was saying! So, I think I was wrong doing this.

I watched twice my oral presentation and I can believe how could I be so nervous: I wasn’t looking to my classmates any time, I was all time looking at my PowerPoint! I wasn’t reading anything because I memorized all, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of there. My moves were really bad too! I’m too shy when I had to do these things so I couldn’t stop any second!! I was moving my arms all time and walking around myself. I did all of this because in that moment I was very nervous, but I didn’t realize that I was doing since I have seen myself on my computer. Apart from it, I was talking about a wonderful topic to me and I think that my friend liked it. I was reflecting my motivation with this project and if you are interested in the things that you say on your oral presentation people will listen to you.

My presentation lasted 7 minutes approximately, it was OK. I had enough time to explain everything and show my pictures. About my pronunciation and fluency I think that they were quite right. I hate my English pronunciation, I’m always thinking about it. But anyway, I’m trying to improve it. My fluency was alright, well I don’t know so much vocabulary to do the best presentation, but I think that my vocabulary was right for my level.

I hope to learn English for a long time and one day, be able to talk in English like now I talk in Spanish.

MY FAIRYTALE

LONDON DREAM

ONCE UPON A TIME...there were two soulmates who were living in the same city. They were both living on the streets of the amazing London Dream, the city of love.
The pretty, nice and shy Chiara was living on the North, in Stardust St. Chiara never had good friends because it was really hard for her meet people and trust them. She wasn't the typical teenage girl in any way: she didn't like to go out, she didn't want to dress like her class mates, she didn't care about make-up...and she deffinitely hated pumps!! Why has her to be always different? She always thought this , but her thoughts were going to change soon, and even she didn't know this...
If you want to imagine Chiara, I will say that the most wonderful thing about this girl was her light and white skin. It seemed like clouds on spring time, when you're near her your body gets cold because is like snow. Her hair was pretty long, dark, but at the same time light...a kind of brown could I say. And her eyes...her eyes are maybe the most beautiful sercret of London Dream. Somedays they were grey or blue but when rain touched them, they became deep and green.

At the other side of the city, on the South, there was Moon River St. Some people called this street, the street of lovers. Marco was living there. It's hard to describe Marco...I could say that his eyes were like a cloudy day, light but grey. His hair was dark like a night without stars, and his lips were as red as the blood of the films. A lot of girls were in love with him because he was really friendly and trustworthy, but he could also be a bit shy sometimes. Marco had a bestfriend, he was called Matteo. Their friendship started when they were three years old. So far they were always together, but Marco's life was going to be different soon...
Matteo had a sister, she was seventeen years old, one year older than them.

Ilaria, Matteo's sister, was in love with the worst boy of the school: Gianluca. Gianluca was always in troubles and he didn't care about friends. He only wanted to have everything that he wants. Ilaria one day decided to talk with him and then, they started to go out. But Gianluca always made her cry because he was really moody and stupid with her.
After few months, Ilaria couldn't resist anymore her relationship and she decided to break up with Gianlu, but he didn't agree with that.

They day was as cold as ice, and it started to rain like it never happened before. Ilaria didn't want to meet Gianlu again, so she decided to go for a charmy coffee on the North, alone...
She saw a Starbuks and went into to have a capuccino, her favourite drink. That day was too much for her and she started to cry...she couldn't stop the tears, they seemed to have no ending. A girl saw her, and decided to comfort her. They were talking all afternoon long, and Ilaria was happy to have known her. That girl would be her new friend: she was Chiara, and she was nice and shy.

Ilaria and Chiara went out a lot of days, and they visited many wonderful places together. After this, Ilaria wanted to talk to his brother Matteo about that sweet girl, and Matteo had an idea: Ilaria could invite her at home and he could invite Marco. They would have fun!!

It was Saturday and Chiara was running because she was late. She finally got to Moon River St., and she found Ilaria's house there. She phoned her, and Ilaria opened the door. Chiara was really nervous and she closed the door very hard.
Suddenly she heard: "OUUUUUCH!!!". In that moment she didn't know what was it, but then she realized that she had closed the door on the face of a handsome boy! She wanted to die in that moment.

The boy, with his purple nose for the blow, started to laugh. She didn't know what to do, so she started to cry because she was really embarrassed. That boy hugged her and said that it was no problem. He was joking about his nose, and the girl finally laugh with him. He looked her for a while, and he fell in love in that moment. It was love at first sight. The girl was very surprised: she wasn't nervous now, she wasn't worried in his arms!! They were looking each other and finally they started to talk...He was Marco and they had to go at the same place, but they didn't they didn't know it before. They went up stairs together and they arrived to Ilaria and Matteo's home.

There was a shadow outside. A scary, dark and black shadow. It was Gianluca's shadow. Why was he there if he didn't love Ilaria? The real motivation was that he was secretly in love with Chiara. He had known that Chiara started to be friend of Ilaria, so now, he could get the girl that he really wanted.

Matteo, Ilaria, Marco and Chiara spent all day together. They know better theirselves and they enjoyed it very much.
It was late, and Marco decided to get Chiara to her house with his motorbike. Chiara didn't know that she would love it. They went to the street and he started to talk again. Marco couldn't wait anymore and he kissed Chiara. It was the first kiss for her, but to him it seemed that she was kissing all her life. When Gianluca saw it, he decided to revenge! But not in that moment, he would wait...

From this day Chiara and Marco were like one heart, one soul...one love but in two bodies. They couldn't imagine their lives without each other and they were more in love that you could ever imagine. Everything was perfect when they were together...it was like a love song. When they kissed, the clouds dissappeared, the sun shone and the world stopped for a while. Their dreams could become true when they looked at their eyes.
Gianluca was very angry and he wanted to hurt Marco.

It was Sunday, a warm spring Sunday. It was the perfect day for Marco to drive his moto and go with her girlfriend in a romantic place. He wanted to surprise her. When Gianlu saw that Marco was going to ride a motorbike, he broke some pieces of the motor to made him fall and get finally Chiara.
Marco went happy than ever to Stardust St. Chiara was waiting for him. When she knew the plain of her boyfriend she started to kiss him with passion. Few minutes later they were on the road and suddenly, they heard strange noises from the motorbike. They couldn't react because they crashed with a car. Gianlu was following them, but he didn't realize that Matteo and Ilaria were following him too. He wanted to kill Marco with a knife, but Matteo jumped on him and Ilaria caught the knife. Marco and Chiara didn't have words to their friends...they were their angels!! And Gianluca finally had what he really deserves: the police arrested him to jail for a long time.

After few days, Marco and Chiara were healthy again and from that moment they never want to part from each other.
Now, it's the part I'm supposed to say: "and they lived happily ever after..." but I'm not going that they had a happy ending, because their love was stronger than life, stronger than dreams...because when something is forever, it never ends.

THE END

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

This is one of the most shocking films that I have ever seen
because everything on the movie could happen in real life.
“REQUIEM FOR A DREAM” is not only one story, is a composition about different characters’ life. The main topic is the addiction. From drugs to medicines, from the hobby to the necessity. The feeling of cannot live without that bad thing. The movie is so real that it seems that you’re living those experiences, that you’re feeling that.

When the film starts, the main characters are three friends: a couple and a black boy, they’re young. They’re all on drugs, in every kind of drugs.
At the same time they sell drugs, but before the sell they need money to can but them. So, they’re always stealing things from Harry’s mum (the boy of the couple). They usually steal the TV, the most important thing for the woman.
Television is the only friend of this old woman, because she’s alone since her husband died. The woman is addicted to a TV program about feeding and how to lose weight. Her dream is visit some day that program.

At the beginning everything was quite calm. Well, the young characters were on drugs and were drug dealers. But in that moment they hoped to have one day a better life.
At the same time, the old woman, always worried about her son, received a call from that TV program. They wanted her on television!!! She couldn’t believe it, but finally she decided to go to the doctor and ask for help to lose weight. The doctor prescribed her some pills. She had pills in four colours: one for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner and one at night. Pink, blue, green and yellow pills. They would help her to look as thin as when she was thirty or forty years old. The motivation of this was her obsession to wear a little red dress that she dressed a lot of years ago, but now, she couldn’t wear it in any way.

Things are not so easy, and everything is getting more and more complicated.
The young boys lost a lot of money and they were mad to get more drugs. The lack of drugs made them do terrible things: the couple was always having argument, so Harry decided to go away with his friend to get drugs and change their life with the money that they hoped to earn. Harry had a terrible and infected injury in his arm, but he continued giving himself injections of heroin. The injury was dark red and black, and it was very painful for him. His girlfriend, desperate, tried to escape from drugs but she couldn’t. She lost herself in the world of prostitution.

Harry’s mum was losing a lot of pounds with her pills, but her body never was enough good to her. So, she started to take two or three pills every time. At the beginning everything was alright, but on few days she started to imagine things, to hear strange noises from her fridge and to see how her TV and her furniture moved to hurt her.
She was going crazy, and the blame of that was hr obsession for the weight.

She couldn’t get herself control anymore; a terrible illness was destroying her mind: she was a schizophrenic. She was always obsessed with television and one day she went out to the street dirty and ill, and she went to her doctor thinking that the hospital was a TV show. When the doctors saw her, they decided to close the old woman in a psychiatric hospital.
The only hope of the film were the young boys, but even then had a bad ending.

Harry’s injury was hurting him very much and it looked terrible. His friend got him to hospital even knowing that then they could be on jail. And that was what it happened: the police arrested them to jail. The friend had to spend his life there, but Harry couldn’t put up with the pain of his injury. Doctors saw it and took another look at his arm. They couldn’t believe how the boy could resist it because it was really painful and disgusting. They finally had to cut him the arm…


“REQUIEM FOR A DREAM” talks about the dreams of the people, about their hopes…everyone needs to believe that we will have a good life, that our hopes won’t be only this, that our dreams one day will become true. But we had a lot of worries and complications, sometimes it seems that we only have one way to choose, sometimes our addictions are stronger than us…and it’s true, some people can change their ending, but not everyone is so lucky…

ALLIE & NOAH (1st PART)

"because with every great love comes a great story..."

ALLIE: Noah, we have to go…September is coming and I will start university soon. I love you and I promise you I will think of you everyday day.
NOAH: I won’t know how to smile if I can’t be with you…
ALLIE: Don’t worry my love, I will never leave you. We’ll see next summer..
NOAH: It’s a lot of time Allie…I will miss you so much. I won’t forget you; I promise I will write you everyday.
ALLIE: If you promise this, I will answer you all your letters. This was the best summer of my life,
NOAH: I know, I don’t have words to say how much I love you Allie.
But remember…our love is stronger than distance!
ALLIE: I think is stronger than everything…Goodbye Noah, I will miss you!
NOAH: Goodbye my love, I’m already missing you.

(Allie’s Mum hid all the letters from Noah, and Allie couldn’t read anything. She thought that Noah didn’t care about her, and Noah thought that Allie wanted to forget him)
Seven years later…

ALLIE: Noah? Wow you’re really changed...
NOAH: Allie! It’s been a long time and I didn’t know anything about you!
ALLIE: I was busy; I have been studying and working in a hospital.
NOAH: So, Why did you come?
ALLIE: Because I saw you on news and I wanted to see you again before I’ll get married...
NOAH: Oh, Allie things are not like this…you forgot me all this years…
ALLIE: I’m going to marry with a great man, my parents love him, they’re all happy…but I didn’t forget you!
NOAH: Well…I suppose your life is going on an easy way now…

MY MAIL.

Hi Gemma!! I'm Ariadna. How are you?
I'm sixteen years old and I live in Sant Pere Pescador. The things that I like the most are listening to music and going out with friends.

Last summer was really nice for me!
I went to Egham, a city situated near London. I stayed there for two weeks and I went there with my best friend, Àngela.
We were in a residence with more spanish students. Also there were Italian, French and Serbian people with us.
We had to go to school every morning and in the afternoon we did a lot of activities with our friends. We used to go dancing in a disco some nights.
I met the most wonderful people there!! Specially italians..=D
The food was fine, but few people said that it was horrible.
We visited a lot of interesting places, like London or Brighton. Everything was so beautiful in England!!:)
I enjoyed that experience very much and I hope to come back there next year with my friends.
The rest of summer I was working on my parents restaurant, with a lot of friendly people!!
And at nights we went out all together.. It was the best summer of my life!! I hope you've enjoyed you summer too!!

ALLIE & NOAH (2nd part)

ALLIE: What easy way? There is no easy way! No matter what I do, somebody gets hurt!
NOAH: Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants?! Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What DO you want?
ALLIE: It's not that simple!
NOAH: What-do-you-want? What do you WANT?
ALLIE: I have to go now…
ALLIE: Why didn't you write me? Why? It wasn't over for me! I waited for you for seven years… but it's too late now.
NOAH: I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year.
ALLIE: You wrote me?
NOAH: Yes. It wasn't over…it still isn't over.

THIRTEEN & ADRIAN MOLE

Thirteen is a dramatic film. It talks about the adolescence period, but on the worst way. Tracy is a nice thirteen-year-old girl. She’s very clever and her marks are the best of her class. One day she meets Evie, the most popular girl on her school. Tracy, who was an innocent girl, becomes a problematic teenager. She drinks, she gets drugs and she does everything that Evie wants to do. Her mother is really worried for this terrible transformation of her daughter and she doesn’t know how to stop it.
But, the story of Adrian Mole is quite different. Adrian is a forty-year-old boy and he’s confused for all the things that are happening around him. His bigger worries are his ugly spots and his parents divorce. Adrian also has problems at school when a boy hits him everyday to get his money, and when his best friend goes out with Pandora, the girl who Adrian is in love. Finally, he gets the girl and the relation with his parents improves.
The biggest difference between both are drugs and alcohol, because in “Thirteen” the girls consumed this usually, and Adrian just drunk once.
The relation with parents is different but bad in both ways: Adrian’s parents want to divorce and everything affects a lot him. Tracy parents’ are divorced a long time ago, and now her mother is going out with a drug addict man who lives with them, and her parent only wants to be the best on his job. He doesn’t care a lot abut his family.
When Adrian meets Pandora his worry only is to be the perfect boyfriend with her. But when Tracy meets Evie, everything around her becomes problematic. Things like drugs, alcohol, anorexia…which were unknown for her start to begin her habits.
Other things, like beauty problems are similar: Tracy is obsessed about her body and her look, she only wants to be a perfect girl. Adrian is obsessed too, but with his face. His problems are his big spots. Tracy and Adrian finally realize that beauty is not the most important thing on their life.
I think "Thirteen” is more shocking than “The diary of Adrian Mole” because the first talks about how easy is to be influence by others and the problems that it can cause to you, but from a dramatic point of view. It’s real, but it’s also a little exaggerated because when you’re only thirteen it’s difficult to experience all of this so early. So, Adrian Mole’s diary is a more common story and a lot of people can feel that they’re living the same things than his character. Adrian is the typical teenager: he has spots, he is really insecure, he has problems with his family, he falls in love but he is not loved in return…things like this are always on teenager’s lifes.
