OUR BRAIN REACTS TO INJUSTICE,,

A European investigation has revealed that human reactions to unfair situations cannot be controlled because they are produced automatically. The reason of these reactions is the increased amygdala’s activity.

According to this research, in this type of situations men seem more aggressive than women.

Moreover, when a person refuses to sharing something with another person, the brain of the last one has some mechanisms which make him react immediately. Furthermore, that person’s reaction is linked with his/her feelings of fairness or unfairness.

That’s the reason why investigators proved this justice sense in 35 players and they considered their brain activity with a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

They made up a game which is aimed at proposing a fixed sum of money from one player to another one. After this, they both have to share that money (as you can see, teams are formed by pairs). The last one can accept this suggestion and pick the money or reject it, in which case neither of them receives anything.

“If the sum of money which has to be distribute is one hundred Swedish crowns and they are divided into two players (50 and 50 crowns to each other) all of them accept this because they consider it fair”, says the study’s lead author and also researcher at the Karolinska Institute in Estocolm (Sweden).

Notwithstanding, if a player suggests he takes 80 crowns and gives to the other player just 20 crowns it will be absolutely considered unfair. This means that, almost in a half of these cases, the player who has to receive money rejects the suggestion, although he knows he will lose 20 crowns.

So, through functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experts have discovered that the brain area which is aimed at controlling financial decisions is in the amygdala and not in the prefrontal cortex and the insula, just as some other previous studies suggested. This brain region controls feelings of anger and fear and reacts to injustices as well.

After this, investigators can affirm that tendency to reacting in an aggressive way and penalize the player who suggested an unfair distribution of the money was connected to an increased amygdala activity.

It did not happen the same when tranquilizers were delivered to players because they became antianxiety with just a benzodiazepine. In these situations all the players showed less activity in this brain region although the money was unfairly distributed.

In addition, investigators’ studies prove that when a situation like this happens to a woman their reactions are not registered when tranquilizers have been delivered to them, while men respond in any case in an aggressive way.

Finally, another author of the study points out that “The final result may have ethical implications because the use or abuse of some medicines can clearly affect our daily decisions.

Last Wednesday, Murcia was shaken by an earthquake which was due to the interaction between two tectonic plates: the Iberian plate and the African plate.

Experts believe that the continuous movement of these plates of the earth’s crust is exactly what turns Peninsula’s southeast into a seismically active zone.

According to the “Instituto Geográfico Nacional” it was a 4.5 magnitude earthquake in Richter’s scale. This earthquake took place about 17:05 hours and then Lorca town (Murcia) started shaking. Unfortunately, this catastrophe had its epicentre in Lorca’s northeast so it was followed by a 5.1 aftershock which was even more destructive.

Yesterday throughout the afternoon and evening there were some more aftershocks, including a 3.9 degrees earthquake. Sources of “Red Sísmica del Instituto Geográfico” affirm that the strongest earthquakes here were registered on southeast Spain at least 500 years ago.

Experts pointed out that the second earthquake was “probably” the main earthquake. It meant that according to scientific terminology the first one (which began at 17:05 pm) could be classified as a premonitory earth temblor. Both eartquakes have also got to Murcia, Albacete, Almería, Jaén, Granada, Málaga and Sevilla, but in a smoothest way.

Natural hazards technician from the Delegation of the Government of Murcia Sofía González has explained that Lorca’s earthquake has caused many deaths and hundreds of injured so far, considering that it released energy similar to energy produced by 2 million Kg of explosives.

For his part, Jaén University geologist Juan Jiménez has pointed out that earthquakes which took place last Wednesday are related to the activity of Alhama’s fault in Murcia. This fault belongs to a great system of faults situated in northeast-southeast, which is extended from Almería to Alicante and it’s known as Trans-Alborán shear zone. Its global movement system is similar to the system developed by San Andres’ fault in California, although the first one has a lower magnitude. Trans-Alborán shear zone makes the southeast Iberian Peninsula segment move progressively to the northeast.

The length and continuity of this fault system is the largest of the Baetic system so, it has become the most propitious system to generating large earthquakes. During all these years many earthquakes have taken place in these zone so they confirm that in Spain south coasts and North Africa there’s a high risk of earthquakes. According to Jiménez, the high destructive effect of last Wednesday earthquakes is due to a simple fact: the hypocentre (depth where the earthquake is situated) is less than 1 Km away, according to the first seismic data

In my opinion, this has been a tragedy! Lives of all those people have changed overnight and that's the worst thing which can happen to anyone's life! I don't know if I could handle all this pain! I truly hope they can get their old lives back, or at least a similar ones, as soon as possible! All my thoughts are with them right now! Let's hope Goverment help them in everything it can! HOW WONDERFUL ARE SCIENCES.. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE ABLE TO SHOW US THINGS WE THOUGHT WE WOULD NEVER DISCOVER!

A Spanish and American team of investigators has developed an optical sensor which is based on crystal clear structure of golden nanoparticles and it’s able to detect some infectious proteins in our body before taking the first symptoms.

This innovation would mean a great advance in the early detection of diseases such as the BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy), or even in future Alzheimer and Parkinson.

Actually, the key element of this new method is the supercrystal it generates. Supercrystal is able to work as a microscopic antenna which identifies pathogenic molecules.

Scientists explain through their research that the sensor they have made can detect nearly ten prions (infectious proteins with altered secondary structure) per litter of blood. So, we could say that this new discovered crystal would be able to find a needle in a haystack.
Rafael Álvarez, the main scientist of this study explains that after immersing the supercrystal they’ve made with the optical sensor in a plasma sample or centrifuged blood “the sensor, which generates extremely high electric field on crystal’s surface, produces to us in an amplified way the signal which bounces off the prions”.

Thereby, the quantity of infectious proteins which exist in blood can be observed easily.
Nevertheless, the most interesting part of this development is its application. After years of investigation and waiting it has been discovered that illnesses such as Parkinson or Alzheimer have a prion origin. So, as Álvarez points out, early diagnosis systems could be designed to these diseases long before the first symptoms were found/could be found.

Furthermore, investigators affirm that some illnesses with a prion origin, such as the BSE, can be efficiently detected nowadays.

All this work has been developed by Spanish investigators from CSIS in collaboration with American scientists. Lastly, their studies, investigations and discoveries have been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) magazine.

OSAMA BIN LADEN KILLED WITHOUT THE RIGHT OF BEING JUDGED. WORLD, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?

USA President Barack Obama announced Osama Bin Laden’s death last Sunday 1st May, the International Worker’s Day. Just few hours later, this piece of news outshined any other happening and everyone in the world was informed about this fact. Since this news came to light both praises and hard criticism have surrounded Bin Laden’s death. I’d like to share my opinion about this topic, but first I’m summarizing the most outstanding facts everyone should be aware of this happening.

Firstly, everyone must know who’s the man I’m talking about. Bin Laden was the Al-Qaeda leader and founder as well. Al-Qaeda is a terrorist organization aimed at committing violent attacks to those who they consider that can be a threat to Islam religion or Islam society, in short, the people they consider possible enemies. Nevertheless, the problem of these attacks is that they don’t only kill possible enemies but also lots of innocent people.

Besides, he was accused of being the mastermind behind the worst terrorist attacks in the USA and Europe. So, he is believed to have ordered the attacks on New York and Washington on 11th September 2001 and a number of others. That’s the reason why Bin Laden was top of the US “most wanted” list until last week because he evaded the forces of the US and its allies for almost a decade.

Now, you’ll probably wonder…and how could the US forces took him after so long? Well, they had already started their search in 2001 but they couldn’t find any clue of his hiding place, so his whereabouts are completely unknown until 2007: the identity of one of Osama’s couriers was discovered four years ago. His area of operation was found two years ago and finally last August US Forces founded his residence in Abbottabad. As a result of this discovery, US forces began their mission, which took many months.

Therefore, Osama Bin Laden was killed by the US forces in Pakistan when they finally found him. He was shot dead in a ground operation after resisting. There were also other victims in this attack: three other men (one of Bin Laden’s sons and two couriers) were killed in the raid and also some women who were used as a shield. After this fire fight US forces took possession of Bin Laden’s body. The Al-Qaeda leader was buried at the sea after a Muslim funeral on board an aircraft carrier. He was buried at the sea to prevent that his burial place could become a shrine. Although many people think that the death body doesn’t belong to Bin Laden, US forces did him some DNA tests to confirm his identity. Bin Laden was 54 years old.

On the other hand, when Obama was informed about this happening he did an emotional speech the night of 1st May. President Obama said that Osama’s death was “the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al-Qaeda”. Following, crowds gathered outside the White House (Washington) and Times Square (New York) as well chanting “USA, USA!”. It’s also important to remember that all world leaders welcomed the news of Bin Laden’s death.

Nevertheless, US aren’t in a safe place at all. The media has already informed that Al-Qaeda members may want revenge. So, they have to protect more than ever their inhabitants because no one can predict when this revenge attack will took place so far.

Well, in my opinion Osama Bin Laden deserved a long and painful death. Anyway, I think that US forces and Barack Obama this time didn’t take the appropriate decision. Everyone knows that Bin Laden was a criminal, but as any other criminal he is entitled to be tried and sentenced by the Supreme Court. I think that this act has just caused anger between members of Al-Qaeda, so President and Us Forces have threatened once again the lives of many innocent people. I’m not trying to say that it was completely unfair; I’m just saying that it sounds like they have done it this way just for their own benefit. And now I wonder…What about us? Have they thought about the possibility of another terrorist attack? Maybe sometimes governments should stop thinking about money, promotion and votes and ensure our welfare and above all protect us.

DOCTORS ASSURE THAT SOME FEELINGS CAN BE AS PAINFUL AS PHYSICAL PAIN IS

Investigators of the University of Michigan (US) have revealed to a magazine called “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” (PNAS) that physical pain and intense feelings caused by social rejection can hurt us in the same way. Their investigation proves that the brain regions which respond to painful sensorial experiences are also activated during the intense experiences of social rejection.

To reach this conclusion, Dr. Cross and his colleagues interviewed forty people who had suffered from a break-up in the last six months. All of them confessed that when they were thinking about the breaking-up experience they felt absolutely rejected.

Every participant completed two tasks in the study. One of the tasks was related to their feelings of rejection; the other one was related to the feelings which generate a painful, but tolerable, stimulus (such as when we have our hand in a cup of hot coffee).

Participants carried out all the tasks while they were being subjected to Functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI). Doctors realized that the strong feelings of rejection were able to activate the brain regions which are involved in physical pain feeling. Surprisingly, both painful experiences and social rejection feeling come into operation neurons in the secondary somatosensory cortex and the dorsal posterior insula.

In any case, the final results agree with the popular wisdom, because, as everyone knows, almost all cultures use similar terms to describe experiences of physical pain and experiences of social rejection as well, such as “pain” or “hurt”.

HE THOUGHT HE WAS SUFFERING FROM MIGRAINE, BUT ACTUALLY HE HAD A KINFE STUCK IN HIS BRAIN FOR FOUR YEARS

This is Li Fu’s story. He went to the doctor after complaining of a heavy headache. He used to suffer from headaches frequently, so he thought that it would be a simply chronic migraine. In any case, he was completely wrong. Li Fu didn’t know that he was going to be surprised at all!

From the robbery’s day headaches and discomfort never deserted Li Fu, so he decided to find a solution to his nightmare once and for all. This was the reason why he visited his doctor some months ago. Fortunately, that day he could finally know the truth about all this trouble. Doctors, after an X-rays inspection discovered the unbelievable reason of Li Fu’s chronic migraines.

Nevertheless, much time had gone by after the robbery, so Li and his family didn’t believe the X-rays result at first. Therefore, he asked for a second professional opinion before giving doctors permission to operate him. The second doctor confirmed other doctor’s suspicions. Following, Li Fu had an operation and doctors finally extracted the knife. The intervention result was really satisfactory. Li stayed in hospital some days and he was completely cured and safe.

Surgeons were really stunned with this case because it was completely different than they are used to operate. To him, it’s a miracle Li Fu is alive after suffering from a stub in a so delicate body part. Furthermore, they still cannot believe that no one realized about the knife after being stuck in his head so much time.

Diana Frances Spencer was the adorable Princess of Gales. She was known as Lady Di.
Diana was born into an old, aristocratic English family with royal ancestry and she was Prince Charles’ chosen one to marry him. Nevertheless, it wasn’t the only reason of Diana and Prince Charles’ divorce, in 1995. Apart from this, In the media began circulating rumours about Charles and his lover, Camila Parker Bowles (who is his wife now). Those kind of rumours were getting bigger and bigger and everyone though they were true. Diana loved Charles but she couldn’t afford this situation much more and decided to leave all the falsehood of royalty’s world. Her last words to the media were "Yes, I loved him. Yes, I adored him, but there were three of us in this marriage."

In 1997, Diana started dating Dodi Al-Fayed, son of her host that summer, Mohamed Al-Fayed. After this, Diana spent a peacefully holidays with her boyfriend and her sons. Dodi contracted security services and also rent a multi-million apartment to make sure nobody would disturb them.

Diana’s death is also a great mystery. Everything happened on 31st August, in 1997. Diana was in Paris with his boyfriend Dodi. The media was following them all the time, so they were trying to escape form them with their car. When Dodi entered in a tunnel he crashed his car while he was trying to shake paparazzi off. He and Lady Di were fatally injured so they died right there. The whole world was dismayed with this fact, especially Diana’s sons Harry and William who loved deeply their mother.

There are still many rumors about Dodi and Diana’s accident. There people who say that royal family hire someone to make car’s breaches fail. There’s also people who said that it’s just media’s fault. If they let Diana and Dodi enjoy their travel peacefully, Dodi would never had run so fast and they never had crashed into that tunnel.

Kurt Cobain was an American singer and song-writer as well. He is better known as the main singer and guitarist of a grunge band called “Nirvana”. Kurt’s band succeeded in the 80’s and also early 90’s. Grunge style into fashion because of him and he had fans around the world.
In 1990 he met Courtney Love. At first, he refused her because he though he wasn’t ready for a relationship. However, in 1991 they began going usually out together and consuming drugs. In 1992, Courtney declared she was pregnant. After this, they got married.

It’s important to say that Kurt suffered from chronic bronchitis and also undiagnosed stomach condition since he was a child. He starts consuming marijuana when he was only thirteen years old. He was a hyperactive child with lack of attention. Later, as a man, doctors diagnosed him with bipolar disorder. Cobain use to be depressed because he didn’t liked the world he lived in. He was a sad person with a great heart, but he was always misunderstood. Kurt was also alcoholic and in 1986, he began consuming heroin.

On 1st March, in 1994, Courtney Love phoned police telling them that Kurt committed suicide with a gun in a room. After shooting himself, Kurt wrote a goodbye note to his childhood imaginary friend “Boddah”. In the autopsy, doctors found high levels of heroin and valium in his system. Nevertheless, rumours say that it wasn’t a suicide at all. There are people who believe that Courtney Love, his wife then, hired someone to kill his husband because they were always arguing and she was dating another man as well.

8# JOHN LENNON

John Winston Ono Lennon was a famous musician and also song-writer from the worldwide famous band “The Beatles”. “The Beatles” became the most successful and scandalous band of the 20th century. However, he started in music’s world earlier: his first band was called “The Quarrymen”.

He transmitted with his music and his arts all his feelings. He spent all his life fighting for the global peace and also for political causes. His fight was just made of powerful words. In 1962, his lifelong girlfriend Cynthia Powell was pregnant so John decided to ask her to marry him. Their son Julian Lennon was born the following year. In 1967 they divorced because of John Lennon’s consume of LSD and his lack of attention to his wife. In the late 60’s John met Yoko Ono, his true love. They had a lot of thing in common: their biggest wish was make the world a peacefully and fair place for everyone. There are people who say that John and Yoko start seeing each other while John was still married. In any case, Yoko was pregnant in 1968.

In the early 70’s he broke up with his band and he started his solo career. From that moment he and Yoko became inseparables. They did everything together: they protest against wars, they painted, they did photo-shoots…In short, Yoko Ono and John Lennon were absolutely soul mates.

The most dramatic part of their love story took place on 8th December, in 1980. That morning Lennon and Yoko went to a studio to do a photo-shoot together. As they were leaving home, a Lennon’s fan asked him for an autograph and also a photo together. Lennon, very gentle, accepted. Some hours later, the couple was going back home. The same fan they met before, named Mark Chapman, loomed up them and said “Mr. Lennon!”. Following, Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times. They were at the entrance of Lennon’s building. The singer bled to death.

Chapman suffered from mental diseases and he prepared Lennon’s death some time ago. He declared that Lennon’s death was aimed at making him going down in history. John was a famous and much loved character, so he knew that everybody would be dismayed for this fact. Chapman is still in jail. Judges have denied his parole three times at least. It’s also important to remember that Yoko Ono will do whatever she can to make that man spend all his life in jail because he’s a dangerous criminal.

Heath Andrew Ledger was well-known Hollywood’s actor. He was born in Perth, in Australia. He worked in nineteen films during his lifetime. He also produced music video and worked as a director. He was a magnificent actor so he won many prizes such as BAFTA or Golden Globe. His first popular relationship was with Naomi Watts, who met during they were filming “Ned Kelly”. Their relationship lasted two years. After this, he dated many other girls but in 2004 he began dating actress Michelle Williams. They had met in the set of “Brokeback Mountain”. They were deeply in love.

In 2005 was born Matilda Rose, their beautiful daughter. They seemed the perfect couple, but things fell through in 2007 and they broke up. People said that the main reason of this braking-off was Heath’s drug addiction. He promised to Michelle he would leave them, but he never carried this out. Michelle loved him, but she just wished the best for her daughter so he decided to split up.

This braking-off affected Heath Ledger very much. From that moment, he start drinking and consuming drugs more than ever and a deep depression took possession of him. Days went by, but he wasn’t able to be happy. He start filming “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”. Everyone on the set confesses that Heath’s sad personality made them perfect to interpret the main character of the film.

His death was something really unexpected for everyone. It happened on 22nd January, in 2008. Heath’s body was found death in his apartment’s floor for his assistance. She immediately called the emergency services, but they couldn’t do anything. He died many hours ago. Autopsy revealed that he died of drug overdose. Doctor’s final verdict was “accidental death”. In any case, as always happens, there are also rumors who say that it could be a suicide. It isn’t hard to believe because since Michelle left him, Heath was always depressed and he didn’t seem the same at all.

Gianni Versace (right) was a famous Italian designer. He created and owned Versace’s empire (the International fashion House. Until its birth, Versace has produced accessories, fragrances, makeup, home furnishings and clothes. During his lifetime, Gianni designed clothes for famous theatres and films. He had famous friends, but his closer ones were Elton John and Lady Di. His mother was a dressmaker, so it helped him to love clothes and all related to them. This was the reason why Versace began his apprenticeship at a young age.

At his early professional years, Gianni designed lather clothes, which were especially for hunters. Few years later, Gianni designer for the first time women clothes and presented them at the Palazzo della Permanente Art Museum of Milan. The next year, he also designed a collection for men. He opened his first store in 1978, in Milano.

Gianni Versace was openly gay. He met his long life partner Antonio D’Amico in 1982 and he liked to go to parties with him. Versace had one brother, Santo and also one sister, Donatella. It’s important to emphasize the fact that Versace adored all his and nephews, especially Allegra Versace (Donatella Versace’s daughter).

Gianni had still many miles to go when he was murdered. On 15th July, in 1997 she was going back home after taking a morning walk on Ocean Drive. He used to go to a coffee shop where he could buy the international newspapers written in Italian, his language. He was shot by Andrew Cunan, who committed suicide some days later.

In his will, Versace left 50 per cent of his fashion empire to his niece Allegra Versace. In any case, rumours also said that the fashion designer was murdered because he didn’t pay his debts to the Mafia.

1# STEVE IRWIN "The Crocodile Hunter"

Steve Irwin was an Australian ecologist and a television celebrity. He received global recognition when he began filming his TV program called “The Crocodile Hunter”. It was an unconventional documentary show about wild nature. Steve Irwin was also the owner and director of the “Australian Zoo” in Beerwah, Queensland. He practically spent his whole life surrounded by the most dangerous animals in the world. The most ironic thing about his life was definitely his death.

On 4th September in 2006 he decided to take the opportunity of filming a short report for the television program in which his daughter was collaborating. He was snorkelling with a companion in Port Douglas in north Queensland. There, they were surrounded by many stingrays. Stingrays use to give poison off when they feel they’re being threatened by another animal. This poison isn’t lethal at all, so when a person has been injured because of this, doctors can relieve the pain without any problem.

Nevertheless, Crocodile Hunter was fatally pierced in the chest by one of those stingrays. After this, he immediately died because stingray’s poison perforated his heart. If instead of perforating his chest stingray would have hurt, for example, his leg Steve Irwin would be alive now.

2# MARILYN MONROE

Norma Jeane Mortenson, better known as Marilyn Monroe was a famous actress, singer and model. She spent all her life living in two different worlds. On the one hand, she gave all her own to fame’s world. She pretended to be a perfect woman, who was always happy and who liked being considered a sex-symbol to the other men’s eyes. But truth was completely different. Marilyn was actually an insecure woman who was always very depressed because she could never show her real personality. Directors, producers, rich men…take always profit from her beauty and turned her into a “silly blonde” when she wasn’t like this at all. Although everyone though she was happy with it, she realized she was like an object to other people’s eyes, especially men’s ones. This fact and many other facts such as ageing were the reason of her sadness. She knew perfectly that she could never be completely happy, but she conformed to live that life of fame and falsehood. However, her life ended really soon.

On 5th August in 1962 police received a call at 4:25 a.m. from Dr. Ralph Greenson, Monroe’s psychiatrist, told them that Marilyn was found dead at her home in Brentwood, L.A., California. She was 36 years old. At the autopsy, doctors could detect a high level of medicines, such as anti-depressant in her system. Doctors declared the final verdict of Monroe’s death: “probable suicide from barbiturate poisoning”. Nevertheless, it has been always considered a cold case and there are many theories, including murder, circulating even nowadays. The main reason of all these theories is the period of time between Marilyn’s death and the call.

Rumors said that Marilyn had been President Kennedy’s lover and was precisely him the last person who talked with the famous star. The conspiracy says that maybe The President or even The Mafia can be involved in Marilyn’s death. There’s also another theory which says that some hired killer were contracted by John Kennedy’s wife, Jackie Kennedy, when she found out her husband was cheating on her. In any case, no one has still been able to solve this mystery.

3# ELVIS PRESLEY "The King of Rock"

Elvis Aaron Presley was a well-known singer and actor. He became a cultural icon in the 20th century and people still refers to him as “The King of Rock”. He has a wonderful and uncommon voice which gave him the maximum recognition. He also came into fashion his slicked down toupee and his original way to dress. Since he became a famous star, Elvis had been forced to working at a frenetic speed. This was the reason why his doctors prescribed them medicines. Some medicines were sedatives, such as sleeping pills. They were aimed at helping him on falling sleep to preserve all singers’ energy for the next show. The other medicines were amphetamines and narcotics to give them all the energy calmed during his sleeping time.

It was very harmful for Elvis’ body and his death was a great example of this. All this barbiturates caused in Elvis a dangerous addiction and in 1973 the singer spent three days in a coma because of this. Until that day, his addiction was getting bigger and bigger. A great example of this were all the times Elvis fell down publicly, his problems on pronunciation, his cancelled tours…By this point, he suffered from multiple ailments—glaucoma, high blood pressure, liver damage, and an enlarged colon, each aggravated.

On August 16th, in 1977 (aged 42), Elvis was found dead in his bathroom floor. Doctor’s autopsy revealed that the cause of his death was a heavy intoxication of barbiturates. Surprisingly, rumors also surrounded Elvis Presley’s death. There are some people who say he is still alive: they say Elvis left Hollywood’s world to live peacefully. There are also many people who assure they have seen the singer in Las Vegas, after his death. The media also had the theory that this intoxication wasn’t accidental, they think it was probably a suicide. In any case, Elvis was and will always be an unforgettable celebrity and all his effort will always be remembered.

4# BRITTANY MURPHY

She is the most recently death celebrity. Brittany Anne Bertolotti, better known as Brittany Murphy, was a famous Hollywood actress. He began acting, dancing and singing at the age of four. He made her Broadway debut in 1997 and until then she was a recognized actress. She was also an actor voice: she voiced a character of the animated sitcom “King of the Hill” or even a character of the animated film “Happy Feet”. Her death isn’t a suicide, isn’t cause by drugs or alcohol…but it’s also one of the most uncommon deaths I’ve ever heard about.

On 20th December, in 2009, Brittany was found death in her and her husband Simon’s home. Doctors took her to the hospital, but some hours later she died after going into cardiac arrest. There are two theories about Brittany’s death. The first one says she died because of pneumonia with side effects such as anemia. In the autopsy doctors detected high levels of hydrocodone, acetaminophen, L-methamphetamine and chlorpheniramine in her system. So, they considered that Murphy’s death cause was drug intoxication (Doctors had prescribed Brittany some medicines, but she always took them in doses).

Unbelievably, Brittany’s husband Simon Monjack died on 25th February, in 2010 in his and his wife’s home as well. Doctors, once more, detected he suffered from pneumonia and also anemia. Some days later investigators discovered that they both died for possible toxic mold. Brittany’s family doesn’t approve this theory at all, but it’s hard to believe they both die in such a similar situation.

5# MICHAEL JACKSON "The King of Pop"

Michael Joseph Jackson, also known as “The King of Pop” is considered a legend in music’s world. Otherwise, things never were easy to him and he had to work really hard to be labeled as one of the most famous stars.

All his life was always surrounded by drama. Everything started during his childhood. Michael had four brothers and two sisters. His father Joseph Jackson wanted to make them superstars and earn a lot of money with it. So, instead of playing with toys he and his brothers were subjected to a lot of hours of rehearse. His father was really strict with them because he wanted them to be perfect. When they did something wrong, Joseph Jackson automatically hit them with anything he had at his disposal. From that moment, Michael and their brothers had a huge talent and they have everything to succeed. Unfortunately, this great gift had stolen their childhood. They get recognition around the world with his music band “The Jackson 5”. They all were brilliant, but Michael was always more prominent than his brothers: he was the little one, he was the main singer and nobody could believe how a child could have so powerful voice or so many rhythm and self-confidence as well.

Everybody knew that Jackson should start his solo career someday, and that day took place in the late 70’s. With his first solo singer “Don’t Stop ‘Till Get Enough” Jackson became an absolute superstar. His video-clip “Thriller” released in the 80’s was seen around the world and until then people referred to Jackson as “The King of Pop” because they considered that no one wouldn’t ever be able to dethrone him.

He had a magnificent and treble voice which was really uncommon in male singers. He also created dance steps, such as his worldwide known “Moonwalker”. Music became his whole life and he could show everyone that he had a special touch for it.

As I said before, Michael never had a true childhood. He spent all his early years dancing and singing, suffering from his father’s aggressiveness. He knew that it wasn’t fair at all, so he also spent a lot of money on building an amusing park called “Neverland”. He would invite children around the world to have fun there and make sure they’re having a nice childhood. It’s also important to say that most of their songs were dedicated to children and their rights. He felt a special affection to them and he also felt that there was a child inside of him who wanted make up for lost time.

The media always tried to destroy Jackson’s career, so they always made rumours and scandals up to get this. Jackson always recovered from false accusations, but the worst was coming. In May 2002, a child declared to the media that Jackson sexually abused him. Jackson confessed many times that everything was false, but no one believed him. He had to pay a high fine to this child’s family and until that moment his life and his career were in decline.

He was really depressed for all those facts because he spent all his life fighting for child’s rights and now people were accusing him of violating the most sacred thing of a child: his innocence. So, Jackson decided to retire for some time and he take the opportunity of spending all his free time with his two sons and his daughter. He also tried to protect them from the media and the cruel world in general. People considered him a little crazy and extravagant as well, but he knew it was the best he could do.

It’s important to remember that until his retire Michael had a lot of debts. That was the main reason why in 2009 he decided to make some concerts in London. These concerts would be their last shows and with this he would leave music’s world in triumph. Jackson spent a lot of money in preparing all his shows because he wanted to make something unforgettable. He was 50 years old then, and he suffered from healthy problems caused by surgery, his skin disease…Producers subjected Michael to a frenetic work and he hadn’t enough straight for this. Because of this, doctors prescribed them some more medicines (he was already taken other medicines) aimed at give them enough energy to support his rehearsals.

It was too much for Michael’s health and one night he felt he couldn’t breathe properly. His personal doctor decided to give them an extra-dose of medicines. It caused him a heart failure and he died in his bed. Michael Jackson’s death is always surrounded by many rumours. His family is nowadays facing up to Michael’s doctor in court because they all believe he could save Michael’s life. Police investigated this case and realized that when emergency services found Michael he was lying on the floor. Specialists have declared that when someone suffers from a heart failure or difficult to breathe this is the worst posture for that person. So, if Michael’s doctor knew that, why he moved him from his bed to the floor? Was it an intentioned death? If Michael’s doctor had let him in his bed maybe nowadays Jackson would be alive. There are also many rumours who said that everything was for the money. Producers had filmed all of “The King”’s rehearses and they released a film with them which make them earn millions of dollars. As has happened in other cases, is hard to know the truth of Michael Jackson’s death.

DIOR says...JOHN GALLIANO, YOU'RE FIRED!

Last Thursday 24th Febrary Dior designer John Galliano went for a drink in “La Perle” a bar situated in the city of Paris. There were some people sitting in the table next to him. The man who filmed this video said that the 50-year-old designer was there alone and really drunk. Otherwise, in the video can only be heard some ladies’ voices discussing completely horrified John Galliano’s arguments. At first, everything was alright. It was a common night, in a common place. However, the conversation turned evil when the British designer declared his love to Hitler and started talking to the people who were sitting next to him like this: "People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f****** gassed." After this, ladies became completely surprised for those anti-Semitic comments. Unfortunately, he didn’t stop right there. When one of the girls said “Have you got any problem?” He also added: "With you. You're ugly." Following, when another lady asked him “Where are you from?” he just answered: “You’re a**hole”.

This trouble happened on Thursday 24th February. However, on Saturday, another woman ledged a complaint for similar behaviour back in October, so it wasn’t the first time the designer said so racist comments.

Consequently, fashion house Dior took steps to this disgusting behaviour. They make it easier and said that their decision would be beneficial to each one. They said that the reason why they fired Galliano on Tuesday was designer John Galliano and the fashion house have different points of view on their job. Many people consider this fact a positive change. John Galliano had been artistic director of Dior’s industry for almost eleven years. So, it was a great opportunity to redefine the fashion house’s style. Galliano had a theatrical style and it wasn’t Dior’s liking recently.

Now, house Dior main intention is create a subtler and refined elegance which better reflects post-economic crisis of the society. Nevertheless, Dior industry cannot reveal the identity of Galliano’s successor yet because negotiations with all the parties involved take time. Even though, rumours say that Riccardo Tisci, who has won praise for his work at Givenchy, could fill John Galliano’s place. Tisci has a special gift and he’s very creative as well. He has the ability to play with colours, especially with black ones. He has done wonderful things so, he probably he would be capable of interpreting Dior's universe. Furthermore, it’s important to remember he has revitalised Givenchy since 2005 with his dark, romantic and slightly melancholic designs.

However, those are just rumours and no one knows for certain who is going to be John Galliano’s predecessor.

Galliano has recently apologized for his improperly behaviour. Nevertheless, apologizes aren’t enough when he has insulted so many people in so many ways. As a proof of this indignation actress Natalie Portman, who should have been dressed with a Galliano’s design inspired in her prize-winner movie “Black Swan”, rejected any association with John Galliano and chose another design label. Finally, she chose a purple dress designed by Rodarte. She’s pregnant but she looked gorgeous with her lovely purple dress.

In my opinion it’s a story with a moral ending, don’t you think? Who could ever imagine that a simple (and completely arrogant) gesture can completely change one person’s life overnight?

COLUMBINE MASSACRE: THE TRAGICAL RESOULT OF BULLYING, VIOLENCE AND GUNS

My biggest wish since last year is become some day a prestigious journalist. I have always been very interested in all the things which happen around the world so I believe this is the most important step to make my dream come true. However, I use to think that I still have a lot of things to learn because I realize that sometimes I don’t have enough knowledge of general culture or essential information. Nevertheless, I already know which type of journalism is the most suitable one for me: INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM. From my point of view, if I could work on it in the future I’m sure I would be the happiest person of the world. My favourite topics to investigate are:

-CRIMES (of any kind): I aaaaalways watch TV programmes about this; especially “CRIMENES IMPERFECTOS” and I also search for documentaries about it on web sites.

-DISEASES: Firstly, I would read and learn all the information about them and then I would begin my work. The disease that maybe I’m more interested in is CANCER, so I wish with all my own to be able some day to record a documentary with young victims or something like this. Then, I would try to earn voluntary donations from families and give this to doctors to help them in their investigations to find a final cure for cancer. I’m also interested in transmission diseases, uncommon diseases, mental diseases, etc.

-THE HARSH FACTS: On the other hand, I would like to do documentaries about the real world we live in. To get this, I would travel to poor countries or unsettled neighbourhoods. I would interview victims of mafia or clandestine groups as well. Besides, I would interview and try to help women who are victims of violence because, sadly, this is a very common fact in our society nowadays. I could also interview immigrants and show to people their culture and their habits, etc.

-CULTURES: One of my other biggest wishes is travel around the world. If I could do it while I’m working it would be wonderful. With my travels to other countries I would learn a lot of new things, such as new habits, food, or believes. I’d love to spend some weeks in each zone to do a great job.

Finally, I have to say that I love Hollywood’s world and all related to this. I hardly know all famous stars names, their movies, all the news about them...I adore all those things! Anyway, I just consider this liking to Hollywood a hobby. I wouldn’t like being a journalist specializing in this topic because I know a lot of things about paparazzi, scandals and all this stuff... and I don’t like it at all! I love to be aware of some things about famous stars world but honestly, I’m not made for this type of job!

Last week, I was watching a really interesting documentary about a massacre which took place in Columbine, specifically in Columbine High School, in 1999. After watching all the report, I was completely terrified about this fact. I couldn’t believe how two teenagers of my age could commit such an appalling crime. Following, I’ll summarize all the important facts as a piece of news.

Dylan Klebold (eighteen years old, right) and Eric Harris (seventeen years old, left) were two teenagers who went to Columbine High School. In 1999, they were already high school seniors.

Eric Harris was originally born in Wichita, Kansas, but he and his family were constantly moving because of his father job: he had a responsible post in the U.S. Air Force. This was the reason why Harris could never make friends and became a lonely and misunderstood child. Even though his mother was a homemaker, she and her husband didn’t worry about their son’s feelings very much.

For his part, Dylan Klebold had always lived in Colorado. His father was a geophysicist and his mother worked for the State of Colorado, administering training programs for the disabled. They were a very common family. During his childhood, Dylan’s best friend was Brooks Brown. However, they distanced themselves when Eric Harris moved to Colorado and knew Dylan Klebold there. Klebold wasn’t a little angel but Harris was a bad company for him.

Since they met they were up to mischief all day long. Brooks’ mother found out there were a lot of complaints in Jefferson Country Sheriff’s office about Harris: he stole computer equipment from a car, he broke Brook’s windscreen with a huge rock because he got angry with him, he was in possession of narcotics...So, she considered Eric Harris a very dangerous guy. Besides, Harris never liked Brooks and he was an aggressive person. Therefore, Brook’s mother was really worried about his son’s life. After finding out all this information, she contacted with Michael Guerra, an investigator of Jefferson Country Sheriff’s office. Guerra, during his investigation, discovered the macabre web site which Eric Harris created some time ago, in 1996. Firstly, he basically wrote jokes and his thoughts about parents, school, friends... but all their writings included insults and death threats. At the end of the year, he started writing in his blog instructions on how to cause mischief and on how to make explosives as well. Then, in 1997, his posts began to show the first signs of Harris anger against society.

When the investigator informed Eric Harris’ parents of this, Harris started attending therapy with a psychologist and did it during a year. Harris’ psychiatrist prescribed him anti-depressant Soloft to relieve his depression, anger and suicidal thoughts. He also suffered from restlessness and lack of concentration so he also took a similar drug for this: Luxox. When the police performed an autopsy of his death body they found out very high level of these drugs in Eric’s system. Now, doctors have discovered that those drugs side effects can be aggressiveness and deep depression.

It’s also important to emphasize the fact that both Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold wrote a diary expressing their feelings and thoughts. Harris talked about his robbery in his diary: he said that he wrote a letter to the owner of the equipment he had stolen offering apologizes. Following, he laughed at this fact saying that there was no regret in his heart.

Some months before the attack, both Eric and Dylan felt they must start their war against society. So, they needed to show their anger towards those they hated. Shortly after this decision, Harris stopped posting information about his evil plain in his web site. Until then, he just talked about the game Doom, as he did in the beginning. Nevertheless, he still dedicated a section on posting his progress in the collection of guns and in the building of bombs (used in the attack) as well. In those days, a friend of them Robyn Anderson (who was already adult) bought a rifle and two shot guns for them (1998). In 1999, they built plenty of improvised explosive devises of various designs and sizes with instructions from the internet. They also modified their guns in order to make them easier to conceal.

Finally, they decided to put their plain into action on Tuesday, 20^th April, in 1999. Their attack took place in Columbine High School, in Columbine (Colorado). Everything began at 11:00 a.m. when Harris and Klebold arrived at Columbine High School in separate cars. From those spots, both of them had excellent views of the cafeteria’s side entrance and each one was covering a main exit of the school. Following, the pair set up a small fire bomb in a field near the school, at 11:14 a.m. They did it to distract the emergency personnel’s attention.

Firstly, when they got to the school again, Eric shot at Rachel Scott and Richard Castaldo, a couple who was sitting on the field. Scott died instantly and Castaldo was critically wounded. After this, they shot to the students who were on the west entrance of the school or were just trying to escape from them. They injured a lot of them and they killed student Mark Taylor as well. Then, the pair threw some of their homemade bombs in the cafeteria, at breakfast time (the busiest time of the day) and following they used their guns to shoot everyone who tried to escape from their attack. At this moment, arts teacher Patti Nelson saw the pair shooting. She thought the pair were just joking or recording a violent video. So, she said “Knock it off!” and then one of them shot her in the shoulder. Otherwise, she was able to run away and she alerted the students. Following, she hided in the library. While she was trying to protect all the students who were hidden in there she called the police.

After calling the police, shooters entered to the library. There they threw another bomb which damaged many people in the room. There were more than 52 students in the library. Harris yelled everyone “Get Up!”, but when nobody stood up Harris said “Well, I’m going to shoot anyway!” They killed ten students and many more became injured. After this, they threw another Molotov Cocktail but it failed to explode. Next, they went to science area and threw a small fire bomb. After leaving science area, they threw two more bombs in the cafeteria. In their way to the cafeteria they saw a teacher trying to escape, so they killed him. He was the only teacher who died in the massacre.

Finally, shooters re-entered to the library and committed suicide: Eric Harris did it with a single shoot in his mouth and Dylan Klebold with a single shoot in his head. They died approximately forty five minutes after the massacre.

Police still keeps up their diaries and all the video tapes they recorded before the massacre. They all became essential information to know the causes of the terrible crime they committed and of their behaviour. In their video tapes they pretended to be serial killers, superheroes who looked for revenge, they were practising their shoots with their new guns...There was also a video recorded approximately thirty minutes before the attack. In this recording the pair was saying goodbye and apologizing to their friends and families. It’s necessary to emphasize that the reasons of this evil action were...

-Bullying: They both suffered from this form of abuse just because they didn’t join to any school group.

-Lack of affection and attention from their parents. If they had listened or worried about them they maybe wouldn’t ever done this attack.

-In the U.S. buy guns is always an easy job. Every adult person (eighteen years old or older) has the right to own one or two guns at least to “protect” his or her life.

-Their aggressive behaviour could be influenced by violent movies or videogames they watched.

-The use of anti-depressant is also a relevant cause of Eric Harris aggressiveness.

In short, this massacre became the worst tragedy in schools. However, I think that it was predictable and, of course, preventable. Sadly, police didn’t act when it was completely necessary. For example, they arrived at the attack when everything was over. Everyone complained about this because police could save some students and teachers from shooters at least.

THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN THE GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS HISTORY: RICKY GERVAIS AND HIS HOSTING SKILLS STARED IN THE CEREMONY

The last 17th January were celebrated the 68th Annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony. Ricky Gervais was once more the master of ceremonies of this magic night. From the first moment he promised in the red carpet he would push boundaries to his monologues because he had offended a lot of people with his particular black humour the previous year. However, he didn’t keep his promise. So, this became the second time he hosted the Golden Globes. He humiliated and replied both celebrities and even the 90-year-old organizer of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

Firstly, he opened the show in a “inapropriated” style, saying “It’s going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking - or as Charlie Sheen (from “Two Men and a Half”) call it, a breakfast”. Charlie Sheen is well-known for his role in this tv-series but hi scandals as hiting his woman or drinking too much are very often on the newspapers. It wasn’t all, he also laughed at Robert Downey’s Jr drug addiction or Bruce Willis age, introducing him as Ashton Kutcher's dad (Kutcher is her ex-wife husban, and he’s nearly 20 years yunger than him). He also talked about antisemism and racism (refering to Mel Gibson), about talent (talking about great stars as Angelina Jolie or Johnny Depp), about the irrational use of photoshop (referring to Sex and The City actresses, whom he consider almost anciants), about celebrities falsety (talking about J.Lo who’s pretending to be a Bronx girl when she’s the most diva of the female celebrities in Hollywood), he called Steven Carrel - who played Gervais’ role in the American version of Gervais’ British Show “The Office” - “ingrate” to decide to leav the show...And surprisingly he “bumped” Philip Berk describing him as an old man uncapable of doing anything on his own, and, of course, everyone considered it too offensive. This fact made the organizers of the ceremony (especially Berk) mad and they put gervais a vet on appearing in a celebration of this magnitude.

Many celebrities, such as two Oscar Winner Tom Hanks or Tim Allen expressed their disagreement and disappointment about Gervais’ jokes. In general, people considered he went too far with his monologue and then with his introductions during the ceremony.

On the other hand, there were also some famous stars, such as Robert de Niro (lifetime achievement winner) or Alec Baldwin who enjoyed the comic’s jokes and even wiped tears in their eyes (tears of happiness).

Critics from newspapers, magazines and TV shows had different opinions about the Golden Globes ceremony. While some of them described Gervais work as rude, inapropriated and completely unforgivable, others consider him the biggest genious of the 21st century. According to them, Ricky Gervais is able to put celebrities in a difficult situation easily, even the most legendary stars. When he talks, stars’ forced smile becomes a poker face and no one of them can escape from his skills. Gervais is even able to get on many other actors nerves, whom seem more worried about keeping their false smile in front of the camera and pretending to enjoy comic’s jokes than thinking about other things, such as the prizes.

It’s important to emphazise the fact that every one in Hollywood is completely feared of that day when they know Ricky Gervais will be there. Gervais is the only one who can show Hollywood’s real side and rake up its past.

For his part, Gervais considered that was his job roast on celebrities. He was just acting, playing his own role and trying to show once and for all that Hollywood is not that idyllic place everyone dreams of. It’s just an idealized where live the most self-interested and untrustworthy human beins of the whole world. Hollywood celebrities use to predend that they have perfect lives and there’s not place for any deffect in their characters or bodies. So, Gervais only tries to show the ugly truth about any of them. At the end of the night, he said: "Everyone took it well and the atmosphere backstage and at the after show was great."

The ceremony was seen by almost 17 million people in the US, which means it beat a record: Gervais get more audience than any other master of ceremonies in any other year.

THE HOMELESS MAN WITH THE GOLDEN VOICE,,

Ted Williams is a 53-year-old man and until some days ago he was just a homeless living on the cold winter streets. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. His father named him Ted Williams because he was a fanatic of the all-star baseball player named also like this. Since he was fourteen he collaborated on many radio programms. Nevertheless, Ted began consuming drugs and alcohol and this life style took him on the streets. Otherwise, he never lost his magical voice. He has nine kids: seven girls and two boys. He also is a grandfather. Patricia Kirtley, his ex-wife, raised up alone four daughters and also a baby boy the radioman had with another woman and she treated him as her own son. It has been a hard task because she’s partially blind. She considers Williams a good man, but she knows he’s weak and easily influenced so he went to the wrong way; and when he tried to prevent it it was just too late.

Videographer Doral Chenoweth III met Ted Williams at Huston Street (an Ohio highway), in Columbus. Then, Ted Williams was holding a sign claiming “I have a God given gift of voice. I’m an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times. Please! Any help will be greatfully appreciated. Thank you and God bless you. Happy Holidays!” After seeing this, Chenoweth asked him to prove his talent while he was recording him. This videographer felt special afection for Ted Williams so he wanted to help him to get his bad situation over. Many years ago, Williams had trained in radio so he had some experience in this profession. Chenoweth’s video was produced by Dispatch.com, the company he worked in. Amazingly, the video was seen around the world in only few days. After this, he appeared in every Tv news and many shows sought him to offer a job.

He was just a homeless but overnight he became an Internet sensation. In only 24 hours, Ted Williams had got job offers, a free trip to visit his mom (he hadn't seen her for over twenty years)… and all those things just because of a YouTube video! It’s unbelievable how technology is able to broadcast information in just a few time and also how a simple recording can completely change the life of people as Williams. Nowadays, life has given to Ted Williams a second chance and he deffinitely wants to help financially his ex-wife and family and, for the first time, look after his grandsons.

The first he did when he becames famous was going to courthouse in Columubs, trying to get a capy of his birth certificate. He had been a homeless for four years so, he hadn’t got the I.D. updated and he needed it to move from Ohio. Ted lived in hard moments in the streets and there he knew how life works and realize of their failures. He knew perfectly she deserved this sort of punishment. However, after living many years on the worst conditions this was a lesson to him. This was the reason why this second chance was like a miracle to him. This lucky break made him the happiest person of the world and he will always be thankful for all the things live has given him. There are sometimes many reasons to think that life is unfair, but when things like this happen I use to believe that there’s nothing more wonderful than facts like these. In my opinion, Ted Williams is an admirable man and he’s the greatest example of overcoming. I’m happy to hear that life has given him another oportunity because I really think he deserves all the good things which are happening to him. Life use to work with money, but fortunately nobody is able to pay touching scenes like this one.
